Fourth of July Fireworks on a fake cactus. Long exposure 50mm Canon 1.4
’twas the night of the 4th and all through the house, not a child was sleeping or containing their excitement. FIRE! What young boys wouldn’t be jazzed about some Sparklers, Picolo Petes, Bottle Rockets and Smoke Balls. This was the scene at this year’s 4th with my 3 nephews visiting from Texas. Hopped up on the spoils of Gramps and Nana’s refrigerator and their favorite uncle being in town for the holiday (hey, I can hope right?), these kids were unstoppable with their love of all things flamable. So much that they actually caught some plants on fire in the back yard. I like to think that my and my brother’s influence of being a young pyro maniacs somehow got passed through the genes.

Once night fell and the smoke bombs were running dry, I got out the Canon and took aim at my first long exposure photographs. Armed with my own pyro instincts, my 50mm and a tripod I was ready to shoot…
